Eligibility
- Candidates should be from a medical, nursing, ECP, ACP, ODP or RTO background for which APLS is relevant to their working practice. There is no minimum requirement for medical candidates. FY1s may benefit from undertaking PLS, prior to undertaking APLS. Critical Care Practitioners (CCPs) who work in (or are involved in he transfer of patients to and from) PICU or CCU are eligible. Physicians Assistants are eligible. RTOs from any background who work in a paediatric hospital are eligible. RTOs who work in a non-paediatric hospital, with any other background to those already listed, can send an application to the Working Group detailing their paediatric practice and each of these cases will be considered individually. The Working Group recommend that nurses are senior staff nurses and above. Experienced level 5 staff nurses may take the course.

Pre-Course Preparation
- All face-to-face (F2F) candidates MUST have completed the online component of the course (should there be one) at least 2 working days BEFORE the F2F in order to allow sufficient time for the course management team to prepare and set up the course.
- Any F2F candidates who have not completed the online component (VLE for ALSG courses, LMS for RCUK courses) will not be allowed to obtain a F2F completion certificate even if they subsequently complete the online component at a later date. There will be no exceptions to this ruling as it is based on regulations set by the relevant accrediting body (e.g. ALSG, RCUK).
- No course refunds can be given to the candidate if they fail to complete the VLE or LMS certificate on time for the relevant course/s.

Attendance Issues
- How much or how little of the course a PCO observes is left to their discretion.
- Only PCOs who observe the entire course will be given an Observer Certificate.

End of Course Issues
- All PCOs are expected to submit an evaluation form.
- Only PCOs who complete the evaulation form will be given an Observer Certificate.

Allocation of Spaces on the Course
Places are allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis and secured on payment of the Course fee; the course centre cannot reserve a placement in a course for candidates unless full payment is received.

Finance Issues
- Debit/Credit Card payments:
- These are processed independently by Worldpay.
- i. All candidates will receive an email confirmation of transaction from Worldpay once payment has been made. Candidates may also request a receipt from the course centre on headed paper should they need it.
- The course centre will not store your card details in any way, all details are entered directly to the Worldpay portal for the sole purpose of completion of payment.
- Forms of payment:
- Debit/credit card payment by the online system (through Worldpay) by completing the online application form.
- Over the phone: Please complete the online application then close the window when you reach the payment page, then call us 0141 387 1079 and we will be able to process your payment (also done through a Worldpay interface called MOTO).
- If your course is being paid for by your Health Board, NHS Trust, or any other third party institution, there are two options:
- Complete the online application and make the payment yourself. we can then provide you with a payment receipt on headed paper which you can then use to reclaim the amount paid from your NHS Trust or institution
- Complete the online application and then shut down the window when you reach the payment page. You can then contact the admin team on administrator@paediatric-training.com and request an invoice (please provide your full name, course type, and course date); you can provide this invoice to your manager for approval of payment.
- Booking cancellations:
- All cancellation requests must be made in writing to admin@merashealthcare.com.
- For courses that have a single pricing policy, if a cancellation request is made in writing within 24 hours of the payment being made (known as the ‘cooling off period’) then a full refund will be given. Any cancellation requests after 24 hours will not be accepted. Please be advised that refunds, if approved, are processed within 30 days from the date of request, as per Centre policy.
- For courses that have a fixed/flexi dual pricing policy, the following rules shall apply:
- Fixed Booking: if a cancellation request is made in writing within 24 hours of the payment being made (known as the ‘cooling off period’) then a full refund will be given. Any cancellation requests after 24 hours will not be accepted.
- Flexi Booking: Refunds may be given. However, the extent of the refund will depend on the time of cancellation:
- Cancellations more than 60 calendar days before the course: 100% REFUND GIVEN
- Cancellations 45-60 calendar days before the course 75% REFUND GIVEN
- Cancellations 30-44 calendar days before the course 50% REFUND GIVEN
- Cancellations < 30 calendar days before the course NO REFUND GIVEN
- Booking amendments:
- For courses that have a single pricing policy, if an amendment request is made in writing within 24 hours of the payment being made (known as the ‘cooling off period’) then this amendment will be honoured, without charge. Any amendment requests after 24 hours will not be accepted.
- For courses that have a fixed/flexi dual pricing policy, the following rules shall apply:
- Fixed Booking: Amendment requests received within 24 hours of payment will be honoured. Any requests after 24 hours will not be accepted.
- Flexi Booking:
- These are subject to a £25 administration charge per amendment.
- The type of amendments that may be accommodated by the administration team are:
- Correction in application form details (e.g. change of address)
- Correction in payment details

Matters of Dispute
Appeals on any matter should first be brought to the attention of the Administration Team (administrator@paediatric-training.com) in the first instance. If the matter cannot be solved by the administration team, the issue will be forwarded to the Centre Director.
