Introduction to MRCP Part 1 Exam – How to Succeed
Introduction
MRCP is a Diploma issued by the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom. It is a highly respected qualification that is accepted across the world for career progression. It is also mandatory for those training in Internal Medicine and its allied sub-specialities within the UK. However, it is a tough exam that has a very low pass rate, as illustrated below:
MRCP 1 pass rate (International) – Nov 2021 diet (published by the Royal College): 30.2%
MRCP 1 pass rate (UK) – Nov 2021 diet (published by the Royal College): 53.4%
Why do so many fail the exam?
The majority of candidates simply do self-study, practising from MCQ banks that can be found online. Yet the pass rate is as low as 30.2%. This is clear evidence that this common approach to the exam preparation is wrong.
